The Peacock Gym, a charity founded in 1978, is considered one of London’s best loved and respected community gyms, particularly famous for its champion boxers, dating back to the likes of Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis. The gym includes a fully equipped gymnasium including 3 boxing rings, a community café, dance studio, recording studio with sound room, and a brand new hair and beauty salon. Personal Training is taught to the highest standard, with many coaches boasting world class credentials, and classes are taught to all levels in ABA Boxing and martial arts. In 2008, the gym opened an academy to use sporting skills and disciplines to inspire young people aged 14-19 to learn entrepreneurial and business skills. The programme, working in partnership with the local authority and schools, has been hugely successful: in 2012 Peacock Academy was runner-up in The Times National Teaching Awards for Outstanding Sporting and in 2013 won a Times (TES) National Teaching Award for its Peer Mentoring and Befriending Programme .
The Peacock Gym is the home of sport and friendship.
