Championship-winning coach John McComish, who specialises in all aspects of compound lifting, has a growing collection of strong clients who continue to reach their lifting goals.
In the video above, John guides Jason ‘Lights Out’ Summers, as the big man smashes a 100kg snatch.
Below, Jason takes 125kg from his feet to above his head in a two movement exercise called the clean and jerk.
Olympic weight lifting can supplement many aspects of a health and fitness program for professionals and amateurs alike, in a wide variety of sports. It’s also addictive!

IF HE’D TRAVELLED A DIFFERENT PATH, unbeaten welterweight prospect Ahmet Patterson could have been dazzling audiences on the boards of West End theatres rather than on the ring canvas of the capital’s fight clubs.
The 27-year-old from East Dulwich, who goes by the street handle of ‘Pattycake’, has earned rave reviews while throwing shapes on YouTube. But it’s the fight game that remains dearest to his heart.
Formerly a national junior champion and England amateur rep, the twinkle-toed terror has racked up 14 straight wins since entering the profession in October 2010.
Ahead of his British eliminator with Glenn Foot at London’s O2 Arena on February 28, boxing writer Glynn Evans caught up with the reigning English champion to find out more about those blistering feet.

Peacock Gym this summer – Our ‘Happy’ video, Ahmet Patterson and Ovill McKenzie on Steve Bunce show (read more)
2014 has been great for Peacock Gym so far!
Earlier this year we were asked to do a cover of Pharrell’s catchy hit ‘Happy’ for a show on ITV. Check out the video (which will be published here), which features Ahmet Patterson, Ovill McKenzie, Romeo Romaeo, our Amateur athletes, Academy students, kickboxers, canteen staff and more!
It’s also been a successful year – particularly for our professionals as Ovill McKenzie kick-started his 2014 with a 5th round blitz of Tony Conquest at the Copper Box Arena. Ovill had fought a terrific battle with Enzo Maccarinelli in his previous bout but was defeated in the 11th.
Our Upsetter defeated the odds once again though when he conquered Conquest after dropping him in the 3rd and 5th rounds to capture the Commonwealth title at cruiserweight. That was April. Fast forward tow months and Ovill was at it again. This time in Newcastle as he took down Jon-Lewis Dickinson with a left-right combo, finishing off the local favourite in two rounds to annex the British title at 200lbs.
Ahmet Patterson has also had a terrific season so far. In March he out-pointed Danny Murphy in Harrow by a 99-91 score, before moving on to Chad Gaynor, whom he stopped in the fifth round in September as Gaynor’s eye was deemed to swollen to continue.
These victories for the Peacock stars earned them individual call-ups to appear on the Steve Bunce Boxing Hour show broadcast on BoxNation – it was great to be there!Posted: October 10, 2014 at 12:00 pm
