Guided Learning Hours:

Level 1 – Award = 60 hours; Certificate = 110 hours; Diploma = 310 hours 

Level 2 – Award = 60 hours; Certificate = 65 hours; Diploma = 333 hours 

Course content: Units include ‘Taking Part in a Fitness Session’, ‘Planning Own Fitness Programme’, and studying ‘Sports and Leisure Projects’. Students will have an opportunity to achieve separate qualifications in ABA (non-contact) boxing and gym instruction, and receive training in wrestling and martial arts, as well as playing team games such as football and basketball. This curriculum compliments the Peacock vision of education through sport; hence, by participating and learning the fundamentals of various sports, students will obtain a qualification and transferable skills such as leadership and team working. Students receive coaching from national coaches and with suitable proficiency and qualifications. 

Work Related Learning: Sessions take place in a professional gym complete with cardiovascular exercise machines, weight machines and boxing rings. 

Employer engagement: The Peacock Gymnasium, in which the Academy is affiliated with, is a business and students will have the opportunity to work alongside sports coaches, gym instructors, as well as the proprietors of the establishment to understand the business and commercial aspects of the gym.

Main delivery location: The Peacock Gym Academy’s sports hall; Peacock Gymnasium.

Progression opportunities and careers available: Fitness coaches, Gym instructors or professionals within a particular sport (e.g. Boxing, wrestling etc).
