Recognition, rewards and praise were part of everyday life at the Academy in Canning Town.

  • Recognised outstanding behaviour and progress

  • Part of the Academy’s rewards system

Celebrating Our Students

The Peacock Gym Academy regularly recognised and rewarded outstanding students. Student of the Month was one of the ways the Academy celebrated great behaviour and progress.

An Example From the Academy: Louie Allen

Well done to Mr Louie Allen, who achieved the Student of the Month award for his amazing behaviour and progress at the beginning of term. Keep up the good work, Louie!

Why Recognition Matters

The Academy believed that recognition, rewards and praise were key to encouraging students to be the best they could possibly be. Awards like this sat alongside the Peacock Passport learning plan and The Peacock Code, which set out clear rewards for good behaviour.

Many Academy students were young people who had become disengaged from mainstream school. Seeing their hard work noticed and celebrated in front of staff and peers helped build the confidence and self-belief that the Academy’s theme of education through sport was all about.
