Outcome qualification level: Level 1 (Award/Certificate/Diploma)

Guided Learning Hours:

Level 1 – Award = 77 hours; Certificate = 117 hours; Diploma = 343 hours

Course content: Students will cover skills such as laying flooring, no rx constructing a panelled door, diagnosis repairing a patch in a plastered wall and making casement windows. 

Work Related Learning: Students will develop skills to construct interior building fixtures such as door frames and skirting boards which can be transferred to making repairs around the Academy to hone what they have learnt. The environment is intended to replicate the work space of a carpentry work shop.

Employer engagement: Opportunity for visits and work experience in a carpentry warehouse.

Main delivery location: Peacock Gym Academy’s woodshop

Progression opportunities and careers available: The Certificates in Construction are an ideal way to get into a more advanced qualification or apprenticeship that can lead to a career in construction – whether as a builder, doctor plumber, painter or almost any other kind of construction worker.
